Is Spring coming early this year?!

Hey Loves,

The answer to that question is not in this city! But we were lucky enough to have two delightful days of close to spring time weather and you can be sure I took advantage! On Monday (as it is Tuesday at dawn already), I decided to pull out a dress to enjoy the day but still had to keep somewhat warm so I managed to come up with the following:

For this look, I shopped my closet for something fun yet somewhat dealing with the trends of now. I started with the faux leopard hat, as I had come across it the other day and really had an urge to do something with it.
So it led me to my brown sheer tights, which I adore so very much! I think they lend a real oomph to any outfit so I made sure that they were visible. From the tights I went on to look for a dress, which was a bit difficult as I'm still in the process of getting a decent variety in my wardrobe but I figured this purple tank dress would suit perfectly with its simplicity as well as with its lovely color, which lends something wonderful to the outfit. The dress, though, fits very loosely so I knew I had to cinch it up and this brown faux leather belt proved perfect for the occasion as it brings the brown on the hat along with the brown tights together to create cohesiveness. From here I needed to find shoes but I felt if I threw on anything brown it would just be too much so enter these black over-the-knee heels (they remind me a little of pirate boots, lol). As much as I would love to say this was it, it's still winter time and I know I'd be a bit chilly so I threw on this little sweater because it was neutral, cozy, and didn't clash with the outfit. Also, I think it brightens it up as compared to had I gotten a black sweater. Lastly I thought that with my big brown fringe hobo, I could give this look a nice laidback look (if only the process to getting here were the same!).

Makeup was, again, very simple. I have a faux Two-Faced Natural Eye Shadow Palette (you guys should get the real one though, such a wonderful investment, I just have this one as it was free--but it works very well!) and I didn't want to overdue it as I think the outfit did plenty on its own and, again, this is somewhat of a more laidback outfit, so I kept it light and dusted on "Cocoa Puff" closely but thickly to the lash line, just so it was noticeable but not overwhelming.

PHEW! So much explanation for the basic task of dressing oneself right? Ha! If you agree, we'll have to rework that thinking! Surely this is simply getting dressed but the moment I stepped out the door, I felt prepared for the day. This is how it should be everyday, not just for me, but for every single reader, every single person you know. Sadly, not everyone in this world lives like this, but those of us who can should learn to embrace it and once we do, we can help to teach others how to do so as well.

My favorite motto, especially since getting my braces, is "My best accessory: My smile. Always in style." I ask that you all consider this as you get ready to tackle your days, every day. :)

National Wear Red Day 2011

Hey Loves!

Hope you all have been well during my continuous hiatus. I will be honest and say I've been struggling with keeping up with this blog, even though I spend many of my days dreaming up of potential posts and what not. Regardless, it is work to manage it and when one is trying to manage their life in general, it gets tough. It's been a shame I've been neglecting this but I'm really hoping that now that school has started up and I've settled in, I can really get some work done. I have so many breaks in the day now that I'm sure I'll be capable of having at least one or 2 posts in the week for you all to enjoy. So let's get to it shall we?

Friday, February 4th, 2011 was "National Wear Red Day." But wait, wasn't that the case already for "World AIDS Day?" Yes, but red is also the color to signify Women's Heart Health and this day is dedicated to promoting awareness of it, as heart failure is the number one killer of women in the nation! There is plenty we can do to try and help the cause, which is why, even though the day has passed, I still bring it to your attention because it is something worth noting and doing something about.

Hopefully, you all wore some red on this day! You know I did! But then again, I'll wear red practically any and every day. Giving me a wonderful reason to do so only makes me that much more excited! Sadly, the weather here in The City has been anything but lovely, except for the past few days as I'll show you in another post soon, so I couldn't don my beloved red heels but I made up for it by trying to mix comfort and cuteness. I personally love the look and want to definitely try it more often. What do you all opine?

**Everything from Forever 21 except purse and booties (K-mart). Lipstick: Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in "Very Cherry"

A little rouge on the lips, a lovely polka dot tank, and a luscious red purse covered my red attire while keeping it warm (obviously while outside more layers were thrown on but they're usually the same old so I don't bother to show them, unless you guys wanted to see what that looks like). Instead of going for the usual black and red, I decided to switch it up a bit and got with grey, which was definitely a big neutral trend this season. I really love the layering of the tank with the henley and thought it was a cute idea to have it peek out beneath it. It gives it a lovely pop so it isn't such a drab yet cozy little outfit. Makeup wise, the beauty of the ideal red lipstick is that's all you need to keep things looking splendid. For a girl like me who is constantly running somewhere (most likely late) it's quick and simple yet gives your face some serious elegance.

How do you all feel about this outfit? Love or not feeling it? What would you do different? Did you wear any red on this day? Do you plan on doing anything else to try and help the cause?

Just a reminder: Though we have these lovely days to dress for a cause, once that day is over, it doesn't mean you should stop being proactive in your support. For anyone interested in this specific cause, I advise you to look into Go Red for Women, which is the biggest group in the country for Women's Heart Health Awareness and Support.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and definitely expect more frequent posts on my behalf!

With Love,

Little Luna

P.S. Would you guys be interested in me setting up a twitter account to follow me on my misadventures? I'm not really into it but if you guys are, I'm willing to oblige, as the facebook page has created some issues for me. Also, I'll probably be setting up an email for you all to contact me with questions, comments, etc. I'll let you know when that's up.

Long overdue!! 2010 recap!

It's okay, I won't blame you if you guys hate me! lol If you've been following my facebook page, I continuously said I would update soon but never did. I'm really sorry for that. But I won't deny that I have cooked up SOOOOOO much in that time for here! But before I get into all that I'll start off with some stuff from the end of the previous year to lead into the introduction to the new year!

To start things off, I will say I spent my last month of 2010 preparing a new look for the next year. At the beginning of the month I got my braces! Most people wouldn't be so excited but I have been wanting to correct my smile for years now and I'm excited the process has begun! I was fortunate to get clear ones so they aren't terribly noticeable (I had people who didn't notice I had them for about a week) and don't have a juvenile look to them. They haven't been as bad of a pain as many said they would be and I've been dealing quite well. I'm curious how getting them tightened is going to be like; I feel so excited but nervous! :)

On top of that, about a week later, I also changed up my hair! I'm sure you guys have noticed I love to have it loose, whether it be curly, straight or wavy, but that was all there was to it. Reason is because I have not touched my hair outside of washing, of course, and trimming the ends. My best friend Michelle scored a promotional deal to a lovely salon in Manhattan and invited me to tag along and I took full advantage of it. I ended up with the following done: layers, side-swept bangs, highlights, and a trim. Oh how I loved the results! And my stylist was wonderful! He was telling me how he had gone to Buenos Aires, Argentina to study to be a professional hairstylist and was speaking how the fashion there is impeccable and something I had to go to experience, so you can bet that I will make plans to go! So here is my end result:

So do you like? I LOVE! We didn't let our new hairstyles go to waste though! We both went home to change into our party outfits and went out that night to one of the city's hottest clubs, Pacha, where Max Vangeli was playing some excellent tunes! All in all we had a spectacular night that lasted till close to 6 am! It was the perfect way to end the school semester and get right into my vacation. Here's some pics from the lovely night with my bff Michelle and our close friend Nick:

(Max Vangeli just owned my soul this night! My feet were killing me but I still danced and got this killer shot!)

I know some are unclear but the lighting is difficult to deal with, especially with it constantly flashing! lol But I stuck to my black and white go-to color scheme and put in my fave flirty look, polka dots! I really loved the contrast of the bustier with the headband. I made my outfit stick to black while having white accessories, with exception to the very sexy over-the-knee boots, that I've been living in since I got them! I think this combined with the polka dots ups this from a cutesy look to more seductive. The bustier itself really merges the two qualities together but by adding the bolero it adds a little modesty to the sheer back. As for makeup, I just added some eyeliner and mascara paired with a red lip as I felt the outfit held a lot already but with the addition of color on the lips, it really adds a nice pop. Speaking of makeup:

I was totally loving Michelle's eyes! Her outfit was black and grey so she added a lovely pop when it came to her eyes. I see this and it made me think of Fruit Loops! lol Silly but I think it adds a cute look to her otherwise very sensual outfit (It takes a real confident woman to rock that lace top with just the black bra under and not look like a hoochie but she pulled it off wonderfully).

The next night I was out again to a baby shower and was seeing some friends I hadn't seen in some time so I made sure to look great, tired as I may have been. Here you'll find me with my gang of girls:

Hey look! I pulled my hair up for once! Reason? The bangs give it a more feminine touch and compliment my face so well if I do (kudos again to my lovely stylist). Once againg I went with the black and white color scheme but much more relaxed than the previous night. Switch the boots to ankle booties, the top for what looks like a one-shoulder shirt (though it is just slung off the shoulder on the revealed side) and some less intense makeup (white shimmer on the eyes and nude pink lips) and you are transformed from club party girl to family and friends party girl. Of course, may we also give a hand to the girls? They all looked great, and it was wonderful seeing them again! :)

Lastly, I want to share with you guys how I spent my beloved post-Christmas blizzard! If you're wondering about my Christmas, it was a very chill time with the family. I personally got athletic wear. I was a little shocked but found that this could totally fit into my closet perfectly. Example? I threw on my new jacket for a walk around Times Square in the snow with my father and brother, and like the daredevil I am, I wore some heels meant for the weather:

I love the slim fit of the jacket and that it is sooo warm and cozy! It is made for this kind of weather, any kind of heavy weather really and really looks cute! There's my cutie of a brother, who, if you know me, I love so so much! He's a wonderful person to have in my life, and I'm actually teaching him the ways of fashion and style (remember the aforementioned over-the-knee boots? He picked those out! Even the lady who worked there was astonished as he talked of the perks of those compared to some other options I had out. Who said boys don't know about fashion?). Also, you can see I have a Forever 21 bag, which means, yes, I did go shopping! Who couldn't deny a lovely End-of-the-year Sale?! Buy one Item on Sale, get the other free? I'm sold! I'll show my buys, along as some other items I got via Avon, in a later post.

And so is my wrap-up for 2010! I hope you guys ended it well and enjoyed your holidays! Now stay tuned! I'm going to start of 2011, a little late, but I'm in the process of ending my procrastination, with some really big news and features for you all to look out for!

By the way, how are you guys feeling about my final few outfits for 2010? I admit, they weren't sparkley (I definitely didn't do anything for New Year's, went in with my Pjs, and that's how I like it!) but I loved them. How about you all? How were your holidays? Any comments on anything relating to what I've posted or 2010 in general?

Hasta Luego Loves!

Winter Time Blues

Hello Loves!

Sorry I've been gone for most of the month, but if you learned from last time, school had to do with it! If you're in college or have been there, then you know what crunch time is like! Not fun at all! I'll spare you all the complaints about it since that's all in the past and over with. I meant to start putting up lots of posts at the beginning of the week as I've had so many ideas come about over the weekend after my last final last week Friday, but I got really unlucky and got sick!!! Cough, cough! Because of that, I've been simply lurking the net for entertainment but haven't had the stamina to do much, including post on here. :( So sorry dears, but I'm in recovery right now and getting better already. I have high hopes for some fun posts starting tomorrow, if not I may leave some Christmas surprises. :)

Also, I have a facebook page to fill you in on any current happenings I'd like to share with you all so it's a more immediate way to follow up on things with me than my blog. I do have Twitter but I don't use it, so that's pretty useless. :P So click on the link below and go ahead and press that "Like" button! Feel free to leave me some messages relating to your interests! I'm gonna head to my bed now, in need of some rest. I hope you all have been doing well and been ok throughout the shopping season (unfortunately being jobless like I have been means the shopping season doesn't exist for me :P ).

Take care Loves and stay warm! This is going to be a harsh Winter!

"Dress for Success"/World AIDS Day

Continuing on the subject of fashion shows, today was actually the first annual "Dress for Success" Fashion Show at my school! Unfortunately the weather was simply awful today (rain, clouds, and 50 mph winds!) but I toughed it out in my little red heels (Eat your heart out Dorothy!) and made it through the day. I wasn't expecting to be in the actual show but due to a lack of models, I did participate, and enjoyed my 5 seconds of fame! lol My debate team was there as well as a few other friends, so the support definitely made me feel good. Though the turn-out wasn't huge, there was a good amount of people there and they seemed to have enjoyed it. My friend Evie, who also participated, even overheard people calling us models so that's definitely a wonderful thing to hear!

I wanted to offer a little explanation for my outfit choice. I was aiming for a business casual look (I think I got it pretty well) that could transition from day to night and so I stuck to a neutral color scheme. The day of the show was December 1st, which was also World AIDS Day, and I wanted to lend my support, especially because I know of someone who is dear to me who has a family member that has AIDS so I dedicated this to them and their family, so I incorporated the color of participation into my look: Red. As you can see, my accessories, for the most part, had the color red. I feel like it lent a lot to the look and made it stand out very nicely, and definitely helped to accomplish the goal of making a day-to-night outfit. It also felt good to show my support for such an important cause at school along with many others.

I hope you all participated somehow and won't stop once the day is over. There are so many ways one can help those who suffer from AIDS and it becomes easier and more accessible each day. So I urge you to go out and look for how you can give your support and raise awareness.

That's all for tonight Loves! I hope you enjoyed the post as well as the look. Think it was a "Successful" look? Could I land a job if I went to an interview like this? Speak your minds! I love to hear it!

Hasta luego Loves!

Con Amor,

Little Luna

P.S. I now have a facebook page so find "Little Luna" and press that like button! You can find more accessible updates about the blog and can talk all you want about the Loves in your life! :)

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010!!!

I will keep this short and simple: PURELY AMAZING!!! This show gets me every year and leaves me astounded, thinking "No way they can top that next year!" and yet they do! I really love the experience of having a fashion show on television that brings you all aspects of it: the show itself, the behind-the-scenes action, and even gives you a better insight on the models themselves and makes you see, yes they are beautiful women, but they are people just as much as we are. I really adore that! But if you didn't get to see it, here are some of my faves from the runway! That is until you get to see it on Youtube or when they give the re-run towards the end of December!

Also, Katy Perry was one of the performers and I loved that due to her already quirky-yet-sexy style, the outfits put together for the show fit in perfectly and didn't seem out of place on her! Her performances were wonderful as well, she is a great performer in my eyes! I'll admit, I was singing along! lol

Akon was the other performer present and though he isn't really my cup of tea, his performance did lend to the show as the girls strut their stuff! All in all, FABULOUS SHOW!!!

So from the above what was your fave? Did you like anything else you saw? What is your opinion of the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as a whole? And, of course, what do you think is Victoria's Secret?! (Not a serious question but the responses tend to be amusing lol)

And lastly, I'd like to leave you with one more fave from the evening and a message to anyone whom I have an issue with, I do abide by the idea of turning the other cheek, more accurately shown by this model:

Hee hee Too cute!!!

Hasta luego Loves!

Love,

Little Luna
